Our hikes starts at 2:30 pm and people start showing up a little after 2 pm.
Be sure to bring binoculars when we explore Spring Lake, part of the Upper Mississippi Refuge system. There is a wide flat trail atop the dams from which to observe the water, plants, birds, etc. There will be no fire, but drinks will be served.
From the I-80 Bridge, take IL Rte. 84 north to Thomson. From the 55 mph sign on the outskirts of Thomson, proceed approximately 7 miles north on IL Rte. 84 until you see a brown sign on the right hand side for the Upper Mississippi Refuge Spring Lake. Turn left after the brown sign, look for hike signs and proceed into parking lot. Approximate distance from I-80 is 40 miles.
