Hike & Overnight - Hennepin Canal State Trail

The possibilities are nearly endless for exploring the Hennepin Canal State Trail from Lock #21. Luxuries include primitive and equestrian camping areas, bicycle trails, boat and canoe access with miles of water, hand-pumping water and pit toilets. Discover treasure at the antique stores located nearby in Wyanet and other rural hamlets.

Camping fee is $8.00 per person. Meals are $11.00. Send your reservations to John L. Kemmis, 109 Abbey Drive, Geneseo, IL 61254 by September 29, 2008. Space may be limited.

Drive east on I-80 to exit 45. Turn right to go south on IL Rte. 40 to highways US 6/34. Turn left onto US 6/34. Travel about 2.0 miles to the Hennepin access – watch for and follow hike signs.
